Treatment of Radiation Induced Mucositis

Head and neck cancer patients often receive radiation as part of their treatment. Unfortunately, up to 80% of patients can develop oral mucositis (severe inflammation of their oral cavity) which can prevent them from eating and drinking and often leads them to shorten their treatment regime which reduces the chances of a cancer cure. We are developing a treatment that can reduce the occurrence of oral mucositis to allow patients to have a better quality of life, better nutrition levels and allow for longer treatment to improve the cancer survival in head and neck cancer.
