Otitis Media with Effusion is a common ear condition in children that can lead to hearing loss and developmental delays if left untreated. However, the current treatment requires children to go under general anaesthesia and undertake surgery to place “ear tubes”. We are developing a device that non-invasively addresses this condition by ventilating children’s middle ears as they swallow. The team includes Jozef Bartunek (OLV Hospital, Belgium), Matt Oldakowski (Curtin University, Australia), Doug Sidell and Peter Santa Maria (Stanford Hospital) and Cuneyt Alper (University of Pittsburgh).
